Turkey: Will Combat Terrorists But Focus On Removing Al Assad, President Says

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Oct. 1 that Turkey will combat Islamic State militants and other regional terrorist groups but will adhere to the goal of removing Syrian President Bashar al Assad, Daily Star reported. So far Turkey has remained out of the U.S.-led coalition conducting airstrikes against Islamic State militants in Iraq and Syria, but parliament will hold a debate Oct. 2 to determine the country’s involvement.
