Iraq: U.S. Will Send Up To 300 Military Advisers

U.S. President Barack Obama announced that the United States will send up to 300 military advisers to assist the Iraqi military in countering insurgents from the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, The New York Times reported June 19. Obama restated that the United States will not send combat troops but will assist the Iraqi military in intelligence gathering for airstrikes and other operations.
