Iraq: Turkey Offers To Mediate Between Baghdad, Kurdistan

Turkey is ready to mediate oil disputes between Baghdad and authorities in Iraq’s autonomous Kurdistan region if it is necessary, Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz said, Bas News reported May 20. Yildiz said Ankara is waiting for an answer from officials in Arbil and Baghdad regarding the offer. There are indications that the Kurds’ years-long game of brinksmanship with Baghdad could be coming to an end.
